How should the series end?

Season Ten is the last. So, how should the series end, if you were given the choice?

For myself, it ends like this: the last great enemy is beaten, and the Stargate Program is revealed. The show peels off, showing each person's final fate:

Daniel finally gets his just reward as his theories are proven right. His summaries and papers and reports which he's filed with Stargate Command are made into a book which outsells all of Budge's books on Ancient Egypt.

As to the others, I don't know. What can i say? Daniel was my favorite character, while the show was still good, anyway.

Well...I'd like see the Ori and the Wraith lock horns with some sort of Ancient intervention on our behalf...hell I dunno !
What I would like to see ...is the series move to the big screen with a movie run...Hell..could even bring Kurt Russell back for a cameo ! Or the dude that play'd Ra in the original movie...was'nt he the ..ummm...dude in the movie the Crying Game ?
What ever happens ..they gotta be able to work it with Atlantis, don't ya think ?

I believe the producers are already planning on at least one, possibly two, direct to video/sci-fi channel TV movies with the SG1 cast as well as RDA. They will use the movies to wrap up the TV show. My guess is somehow the Ancients help Earth defeat the Ori and then everyone will go fishing at O'Neil's fishless pond.

Yes you're right... there are several options in the works currently.. and the dvd's will be released, Scifi said they may play them and also will be available on Itunes for download.

Also look out for a 3rd Stargate, which should premiere in 2008.

I agree with Tom - they've already made plans for a few movies to wrap things up and with movies there will definitely be a battle. I really hope that these movies will be made because if not they'll just end with a Season 10 cliffhanger (and that would be horrible).

At the end of the movies/series, I think it should go like this. They form an alliance with all the races of the whole universe/galaxy - Go'aulds even. Bring back the Asgaard, the Nox, and every species they've met up. There's a huge collaborative battle to get rid of the Ori - of course we know who the winner is :)

The conclusion? The purpose of the Stargate was to travel to new worlds and meet 'aliens', so at the end it forms some form of universal alliance (yeah so Trek!!). It'll be cool really- like see how the Go'auld be a part of that .. from the start they're major bad guys, to being completely beaten and having to live with humans (but yet retaining their sense of arrogance).

I'm not sure how the Wraith fit into this but presumably they are removed from this battle - the Ori don't have a right to "do as they wish" there? So there's no way that Atlantis (which as far as I know is still ongoing).

How will the team turn out? Daniel - ambassador of Earth (or is that too lowly for him), Carter will get some huge R&D team (collaborative with other races), Jack (retirement, no?), Teal'c (part of the Jaffa Council/Prez, rebuild Jaffa-hood). Not sure about Vala or Mitchell really.

Well, how much can they really change, since Atlantis continues in the same universe, albeit a different galaxy. The stars from SG1 are expected to make some appearances in Atlantis, so their roles probably can't change much.

        Okay..I think I missed something....
Why can't the Ori and the Wraith go at it ...?
Due to having a tattooist's scheduel I may have miss'd some info and a episode .

I think it'll be difficult to have the Wraith go at it with the Ori - not from an actual battle-battle standpoint but just from "writing the show" standpoint. They'd have to come up with a new nemesis for Atlantis - and so far from what I've seen of Atlantis (up to the end of Season 2) I don't think they want to let go of the Wraith too early. The movies are coming out within the next year.

And from what I've understood of the Ori - they have free reign in that area of space, or are allowed to do so without intervention from the Ancients. Atlantis (and the Wraiths) are situated far away - too far away perhaps, and maybe fall out of this region specified by the Ancients. I may be incorrect on this, so do point out any discrepancies.

Although it would be pretty horrible (for Earth) to have both the Ori and Wraith wanting to invade at the same exact moment. If so, I hope it won't be horribly cliched where the enemies will face off with each other and ignore the humans (others) so it gives them time plan to whoop both their asses.

I think once SG1 ends most of the actors will be off doing other things and won't be available for cameos as much as they do currently. Maybe they'll just be referenced in name by people on Atlantis but I think that's about it. I'm not holding out hope that they'll be around.

As for them not quite changing, I think that'll be a little strange - with two movies, where they just go around saving the world like they regularly do in the past seasons .. not many non-SG1 fans will want to watch that IMO.

It really is too bad the Sci-Fi channel decided to cancel the show, but it does have to end sometime. Hopefully it will be an ending worthy of such a fun show.

There is also the possibility of another Star Gate spin-off. Perhaps the movies will wrap up the current SG1 series and lay the foundation for a new series. So the crew will like not died, retire, or otherwise fade off into the sunset. Nor is the villain, the Ori or Go ‘auld, likely to disappear entirely. And if the movies themselves do well enough, their may be more movies with the original/current cast. You always have to leave room for the possibility of a sequel or two or three.

Since time travel, alternate futures, and alternate realities episodes of the series seem to be the favorites of many fans, perhaps the movies will take place in the not too distant future, or will involve getting help from an alternate reality/universe group of Ancients that are willing to help save our reality/universe from the Ori for the good of all alternate realities/universes. Or perhaps we will find that we have been watching an alternate universe SG1 all along (like the Dream season of Dallas).
The movies may also involve the cast of Atlantis. Perhaps Daniel will finally get to go to Atlantis and continue his research of the Ancients. And perhaps Carter and MacKay will become involved in a long long long distance love/hate relationship that has Amanda Tapping making cameos on Atlantis. Or may Sam and Jack will finally hook-up. Teal'c will hook up with the Vulcan chick from Enterprise and together they will help rule the Jaffa and form a lasting alliance with the Tokra. And the Asgaard will finally defeat the Replicators and build another spaceship named after O'Neil. And of course Mitchell and Valla will hookup but get lost in another part of the universe where the live on a living spaceship and interact with alien Muppets.

Alas, all good things come to an end. Whatever the producers end up doing, I am sure I will end up watching it over and over again, then will buy the DVDs, and end up watching reruns of SG1 and Atlantis on the Sci-Fi channel from now until well into the foreseeable future.

I think it should end, "and they all lived happily to the end of their days."

    Bilbo knows what's best.

They could have a Babylon 5-like ending where they flash forward 20 or so years into the future at a time when the Goa'uld, Ori and Wraith threats have been eliminated. (How that happened, of course, could be explained in detail in the coming SG-1 movies.)

Amanda Tapping (Sam Carter) is now confirmed to be joining Atlantis for at least 14 episodes next season. Details @ Gateworld - www.gateworld.net/news/2007...ode.shtml. I'm glad because out of the current members of SG1, she's my favorite and would seem the best fit.

I'd really like to see how they'll fit all this in - the end of SG1, the 2 movies, Atlantis still ongoing ...

How many episodes are there in a season?

Daniel Jackson always wanted to go to Atlantis to study the lost city of the Ancients.

I find the supposed sexual tension between MacKay and Carter boring.

There are usually 22 episodes in a season.

I don't think it's actual sexual tension since Sam is so not interested in McKay - at least not in that way. And I don't see it like that either .. it's like a comic factor more so .. how he tries to impress her, or make himself look better etc.

I just don't like the extreme caricatures. MacKay is smart enough not to be so stupid, at least not continuously.

I also would kind of like him to come out of the closet, but that's my own fantasy.
